Decorating a pavingTo dress up courtyards and pool surrounds, pleasing alternatives to gravel or, heaven forbid, a solid sheet of concrete, include break query tile, cobblestones, log sections, river pebbles and recycled old flagstones. We’ve even seen a mosaic pavement of broken household China shards set in cement – an effect perhaps not worth the effort, but a fun conversation-starter. On this picture will show examples of good paving in Australia gardens, some professionally laid, some done by homeowners themselves from materials on the spot or found in demolition yards, but all with imagination as their most important element.
