The sweeping view of Sydney from the end of this long room inspired the sea and sky blue used by designer Patricia with walls and glazed ceiling in white. To rebuild some walls that had to be pulled down, we were terribly lucky to find a local stonemason who understood the technique used in the 1850s to construct the original walls. Sufficient beautiful black and white marble tiles were salvaged from a demolished 19^th century building to pave veranda and entrance path of a Melbourne house. Symmetrically placed urns and small cypresses in terracotta pots by the front door enhance the square-board geometry. Japanese landscaping influenced the treatment of this delightful garden in Melbourne, created by Peter of Sydney. Old blue-stone street cobbles were bought from the local council, who were digging them up. Blue-stone chips tumble from below shrubs.
